Why We Dance The Tango
"In the beginning"

In the early 60's and before we had even met, Sharlene and I each watched Juan Carlos Copes dance Argentine Tango on The Ed Juan Carlos CopesSullivan Show. What a strange looking dance. Who could have known...

“Tango es: compas, elegancia.”

“Tango is: rhythm, elegance.”

In 2004 while with the late Bob and Pat Horne in Tri-Cities WA, Sharlene and I watched the Argentine Tango . We looked at each other and knew that this was a Evan Wallace/Michelle Badiondance we just had to learn. It spoke to us. Almost a year later, we were able to find someone (Michelle Badion of Seattle) to teach us this marvelous and sensuous dance and our journey began.

"If you can walk, you can dance Tango" we were told. Imagine our dismay when we discovered that we needed to learn to walk, not as individuals, but two people, walking as one. We are still learning!

"The seed you plant does not come to life unless it dies"

1 Corinthians 15:36

This is both a complex and a simple concept. Let us just say that for a time, the tango became strife and we had to let it fall away.

“But if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

Dance, and Tango in particular has now become an expression of who we are, and of our relationship to each other.
